About SOAK
SOAK is a floating sauna and cold plunge experience based on London’s canals.
Built inside a converted boat, SOAK is design-led with elevated hospitality.
The boat moves to different neighbourhoods across London every few weeks, so the environment is constantly evolving while the experience remains consistently excellent.
We’re looking for warm, reliable and hard-working hosts to help run the experience day to day.
A bit about the role
This is an opportunity to be SOAK’s first hire in a hands-on hospitality role with a strong operational element.
You’ll often be running the boat independently during your shift, welcoming guests on board, hosting sessions, managing the sauna and plunge environment, serving drinks and helping maintain the calm atmosphere and high standards of the space throughout the day.
It suits someone who enjoys responsibility and takes pride in creating a special environment for other people.
The role combines elements of hospitality, wellness, light operations and venue management. One moment you might be greeting guests with a welcome drink and explaining sauna etiquette, the next you might be restocking towels, maintaining the fire, cleaning the plunge area or resetting the boat between sessions.
Although the environment is relaxed, the role requires focus, attention to detail and consistency. There will always be something to stay on top of, and we’re looking for people who naturally notice what needs doing without needing direction.
What you’ll spend your time doing
Guest experience & hosting
Welcoming guests on board and helping them feel comfortable in the space
Explaining the sauna and cold plunge flow, etiquette and safety guidance
Creating a calm, friendly and inclusive atmosphere throughout sessions
Serving drinks (teas, coffees, hydration mocktails)
Answering guest questions and handling bookings or basic admin while on shift
Monitoring sessions and helping maintain a safe environment for everyone using the space
Sauna & boat operations
Lighting and maintaining the wood-fired sauna
Using essential oils and ice during sessions
Monitoring temperatures, water quality and general upkeep of the facilities
Opening and closing the boat independently
Resetting the boat between sessions, including towels, seating areas and plunge spaces
Helping maintain stock levels and reporting operational issues when needed
Cleaning & maintenance
Keeping the boat, sauna, plunges and communal areas consistently well presented throughout the day
Ongoing upkeep of the space and carrying out end-of-day close-down procedures
You’re perfect for the role if you are
Warm, calm and good with people
Comfortable working independently for long periods
Reliable, observant and proactive
Happy working in a physical role and staying on their feet most of the day
Comfortable working around heat, water and changing temperatures
Genuinely interested in hospitality, wellness, sauna culture or canal life
Happy working evenings and weekends
Looking to grow with an exciting and ambitious business
Hospitality experience is a strong plus, particularly from restaurants, cafés, bars, boutique fitness or wellness spaces, but attitude matters much more to us than a perfect CV.
You do not need previous sauna or boating experience. We’ll train you on everything from operating the stove to water systems and session flow.
The practical side
Part-time and full-time positions available
Typical shifts are mornings (from around 7:30am) or evenings (finishing around 9:30pm)
Weekend availability is essential; Part-time positions are weekend-only
The role is primarily solo-working, although founders and other team members will often overlap during handovers and busy periods
The boat moves location every few weeks across London’s canal network, including East, North and West London - we will subsidise travel costs
The role involves lifting wood and towels and working in a warm, wet environment
What we offer
Growth & progression
We’re just getting started, which means the role will evolve with the business.
For the right people, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibility across operations, training, management and future sites as SOAK grows.
We’re currently building our first boat, but the long-term plan is to expand into multiple locations and experiences over time.
Pay & benefits
£14-£16/hour depending on experience and responsibilities
Free sauna use outside working hours
Staff discounts + guest passes for friends and family
Opportunity to grow with the company from an early stage
